Considering that I could have this little bundle of joy any day around Gwen's birthday, we decided it was a good idea to go ahead with a party before the actual birthday. But, before I can share all the party fun, here are some happenings from last week that I just got pictures of!
"I love Elvis!!!!!"
Whitney has a new pet iguana named Elvis. Gwen just loved getting to meet him last week! I can't believe that she kissed him right away!!!!!!
And holding him was not a problem either!
Gwen can enjoy Elvis all she wants, but she will NOT be getting one of her own
Before the party.....
Gwen discovered kickball is a new favorite game of hers! This lasted for a good 45 minutes! How old do they have to be to on a soccer team?
Now to the party.....
Joey and Whitney had already made plans to stop in again this weekend from Purdue, so we thought it would be the perfect time to surprise Gwen with a party. We through everything together after Thursday's news, and amazingly it worked! Gwen thought we were coming over to Gram and Poppy's just to play...
Gwen's very first reaction to a surprise party! Not the one you want, but coming from an almost 3-year-old...one to be expected.
When we explained that it was a surprise party for her birthday....Gwen's response was "But my birthday won't start until March?" Such a smart cookie!
With the shock of the surprise over, and now realizing that it is okay to party early, Gwen settled into the role of the Birthday Girl!
1st thing on her agenda...PRESENTS!
Then with a change in hats, she showed off her butterfly cupcakes that Mommy secretly made and decorated that afternoon (Brad distracted her by playing outside while they baked and downed for a nap so I could decorate them)
"Check this out Lilly! I'm a professional!"
Blowing out the candle only took 2 tries (and no spitting) this year!
"I eat the best part 1st!"
"Thank you Uncle Joey!!"
After all the partying and playing with toys, Gwen settled down with Daddy to rest and finish that cupcake she started an hour ago!
